Mexico City is the capital of the Central American country of Mexico. It is the oldest and biggest city in Mexico. It is a federal district which is divided into 16 boroughs, and is also the seat of the federal government. Its metropolitan population is approximately 21.2 million citizens, and it is the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world. In 1325, the Native Aztecs founded the area which is now Mexico City. There are also huge markets such as the Mercado de Jamaica which sells fresh flowers and the Mercado La Merced where all sorts of items are for sale. The city also has a Korea-town and a Chinatown.
Mexico City’s gambling industry is dominated by two major entertainment companies. The first is the Caliente Group, which is under the ownership and management of Hipodromo de Agua Caliente, S.A de C.V, and specialises in bookmaking but also offers gaming machine activities and a loyalty initiative called “Club Caliente”.
Caliente Group operate other venues throughout Mexico City such as the Bosque de Las Lomas, the Interlomas Plaza Magnocentro, the Ecatepec Plaza Aragon and the Caliente Casino-Meneo.
The other major company with a presence in Mexico City is called the Emotion Casino Group. Their largest venue known as the Emotion Casino-Cuitlahuac offers hundreds of gaming machines. All of the Emotion Casino Groups properties include restaurant and bar facilities. The Emotion Casino Group also operates the Emotion Casino- Patriotismo, and the Emotion Casino-Hamburgo, both of which are located in Mexico City.
The largest gambling company operating in Mexico are known as PlayCity. They are a division of Apuestas Internacionales S.A. de C.V. The Mexico City venue is called Casino-Armand and its facilities include gaming machines, sports betting and bingo activities.
Horse racing enthusiasts can find the Hipodromo de las Americas on the northwest side of Mexico City. The track specialises in quarter horse racing and punters can enjoy a selection of five restaurants on site.
