BetVictor
The Story of BetVictor
Customers from over 160 countries use BetVictor's services, thereby contributing to the bookmaker's 'rapid' growth over their 10 years of action. Formerly named after their former owner Victor Chandler, BetVictor offers users the chance to bet not just online but also by phone, in shops and at racecourses across the world. Alongside their main bookmaking revenue stream, the firm also offers punters the chance to play online poker and bingo as well as providing a number of casino games.
BetVictor was founded by Victor's grandfather, William in 1946. Victor took up the running of the business after the death of his grandfather and, subsequently, the death of his father in 1974. Under the premiership of the third generation Chandler, the company turned over a not insignificant £1 billion. Horse racing magnate Michael Tabor assumed control of the firm in 2014 following Chandler's selling of his final shares in BetVictor.
Easily recognisable from the blue and orange silks his jockeys wear, owner Tabor is still a big name in the horse racing industry. As a consequence, the company will be able to extend their reach in terms of publicity by increasing their sponsorship responsibilities. BetVictor are already the official partners of Ascot's Clarence House Chase.
Away from horse racing slightly, the company's brand ambassador is former England international footballer Michael Owen - though he is now also well known for being a racehorse owner, breeder. BetVictor also sponsors such non-racing events as the Welsh Open snooker competition and the World Matchplay Darts tournament; all these events helping to boost the firm's popularity and numbers.
The company has also received praise from odds aggregator OddsChecker, the latter crowning the former as the bookmaker that offers the best prices on football betting. According to the BetVictor website, 'the analysis shows that BetVictor tops the bookmaker table, having offered better value on Match Odds markets than the media price across OddsCheckers' panel of bookies, 71% of the time [Sic.].'
Navigating BetVictor
Registered BetVictor users can log in by inserting either their username or email address and their password in the twin boxes at the top of the sportsbook homepage. The option of typing either your username or email is advantageous - especially for those who suspect that they might lose or forget one or the other.
Beneath these boxes are a row of tabs to links to different areas of the site. From this sportsbook webpage, you can move to the area of the site concerned with in-play bets. You can even take a trip and bet on virtual sports or play casino games, poker or slots.
Up the left hand side of the homepage are a series of links in a number of sections. The first has the heading 'Popular Pages' and houses those things that aren't directly related with placing bets but are nonetheless useful to know. The links in this list will direct you to promotions; and the best prices that the company offers. BetVictor also provide a results service, feeding through information regarding when goals are scored and when races are won etc. A link to this service is also found in the 'Popular Pages' section.
The 'Top Links' list can be found below the 'Popular Pages' list and is similar in its aims. The links in this section will allow you to wager bets on the most popular events, be they Premier League matches or Cheltenham Festival horse races or Rugby World Cup ties. This saves time scrolling through variables to try to find your event of choice. Beneath this category is the 'Top Sports' list, providing three links to BetVictor's customers' most favourite sports; football, horse racing and tennis. The final feature on the left hand side of the BetVictor sportsbook is the alphabeticised list of all the sports on offer. These links are also displayed with a picture helping the user to easily differentiate between two similar sporting categories.
Scroll back up and move over to the right hand side of the sportsbook to find your betslip. Select a variable from the main body of the page of add it to your betslip and check the relevant box should you want to place an each-way bet. Enter your stake to see your potential returns tallied up for your information.
By selecting more than one outcome from the main body of the page, you will unlock the opportunity to place a multiple bet. Again, simply enter your stake in the relevant box to place such a bet. Helpfully, BetVictor do not just tell you the name of the bet; double, treble, trixie etc. but also supply the number of bets that the wager is equivalent too. Beneath your betslip you will find a list of the site's most popular bets - helpful should you find one of these interesting - as well as a number of adverts to their promotions and services.
As for horse racing, BetVictor promise to give customers the best odds on all UK and Ireland horse racing. What this means in real terms is that you will receive the starting price on your winning selection if this SP is greater than the early price already taken. It is then vitally important that you take the early price, rather than the SP.
Once you have placed your UK and Ireland horse racing wager, check back to BetVictor to watch your charge in action - the bookmaker offer all their customers the chance to see their selection in action upon them placing a bet of £1 or more. Terms and conditions apply to all promotions.
