La Liga preview and odds: Celta de Vigo vs Villarreal
March 02, 2016 19:00pm - Estadio Municipal de Balaídos
La Liga
Celta de Vigo are still sitting comfortably in a European qualification spot and will be looking to defend their position when fourth-ranked Villarreal pay a visit to Galicia on Wednesday evening.
Celta in recovery after slump
After an alarming slump at the beginning of 2016, Celta de Vigo seem to have steadied the ship and look on course for European qualification. However, the Galician side will face a tough challenge in La Liga on Wednesday when high-flying Villarreal come to town.
Following the winter break, Los Celticos lost six out of eight games and slipped out of the top four. They eventually brought their alarming slide to an end with back-to-back wins at home to Eibar and away to Getafe.
On home soil, Eduardo Berizzo`s men are unbeaten in three having won two (Levante and Eibar) and drawn against Sevilla.
Villarreal with eye on third place
After a strong start to their season, many observers predicted that Villarreal would fall away leaving the big three clubs to battle it out at the top of the table. Remarkably, with 26 games played, the Yellow Submarine are just two points behind Real Madrid and genuine contenders for third place.
The Castellón club are unbeaten in 13 La Liga matches and have not been beaten in their last five encounters away from home. In addition, they have kept clean sheets in all of their last five league fixtures.
Team news
The home side will have to make do without the injured duo of Claudio Beauvue and Fontas.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Samu and Jonathan dos Santos.
