Champions League preview and odds: Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid
April 05, 2016 20:45pm - Camp Nou
Champions League
Reigning champions Barcelona will continue their title defence against their tough rivals from Madrid on Tuesday night.
Barca seeking revenge for 2014 defeat
The one and only time Barcelona faced Atletico Madrid in the Champions League (2014) they were beaten 2-1 on aggregate. On that occasion, the first leg at the Camp Nou ended in a 1-1 draw. This term, the Catalan side will be looking for revenge as they seek to retain their crown.
They come into this game on the back of a 39-game unbeaten record in all competitions. They have lost just one of their last 16 Champions League matches and have won their last 10 home legs in a row.
Third-straight quarter-final for Atletico
Atletico Madrid are fast-becoming an established Champions League side. Coach Diego Simeone has led the Madrid team to three straight quarter-final appearances, and every time they have faced La Liga opposition. In the last two seasons, they were knocked by Real Madrid in both the 2014 final and at the quarter-final stage last year.
Atleti are unbeaten away from home in Europe this term having won twice, at Galatasaray and Benfica, and drawn at Astana and PSV.
Team news
Luis Enrique`s men will have to make do without Andres Iniesta and Sandro Ramirez, while Sergio Busquets remains a doubt.
Meanwhile, the away side have Diego Godin, Stefan Savic and Tiago all in the treatment room.
Recent form (All competitions)
Barcelona: DWWWW
Atletico Madrid: LWWWW
Betting odds and tips
Barca are stronger than the last time the teams met in this competition, but Atletico still now how to frustrate their opponents. Expect a fairly low scoring game with Barcelona to come out on top.
