Tournament long-shots Wolfsburg will hoping to spring a surprise when they take on 10-time champions Real Madrid at the Volkswagen Arena in the first leg of this Champions League quarter-final clash.

Wolfsburg face the might of Real Madrid for the first time

Wolfsburg are entering unknown territory having reached the Champions League knockout stage for the first ever time. In addition, this is the first time in their history that they have clashed with the Spanish giants.

The German side have a 100% home record in this year`s competition and will need to maintain that if they are to stand any chance of progressing to the last four. They have faced Spanish opposition on four previous occasions but have only been successful once - when they beat Villarreal back in 2009/10.

Real Madrid clear favourites to progress

Real Madrid are unbeaten in this year`s competition and will be clear favourites to progress to the semi-finals. They won three of their four away matches, with the 0-0 draw at PSG the only blemish on an otherwise perfect record.

In total, Los Blancos have kept seven clean sheets in their last eight Champions League matches, with Shaktar Donetsk being the only team to have score against them since they were beaten by Juventus in last years semi-final.

The home side have an extensive injury list that includes Maximilian Arnold, Ricardo Rodriguez, Daniel Caligiuri, Felipe, Naldo, Paul Seguin, Sebastian Jung, Diego Benaglio and Bas Dost, while Julian Draxler is also a doubt.
