Wimbledon preview and odds: John Millman vs Andy Murray
July 02, 2016 - Wimbledon, Third Round
It has been a relatively straightforward path to the third round of the Wimbledon Championships for World No. 2 Andy Murray. He will be hoping for another routine win on Saturday when he goes up against 67th-ranked Australian John Millman.
Murray looking comfortable with Lendl back on the scene
Since losing to Novak Djokovic in the final of the French Open and switching to grass, Andy Murray has remained unbeaten. In fact, only Djokovic has beaten the British No. 1 in his last 25 matches - a record that stretches back to the first round of the Madrid Masters at the beginning of May.
Since the Roland Garros defeat, Murray has been reunited with former coach Ivan Lendl and will be hoping for more of the success that they enjoyed during their first spell together.
Murray`s one and only meeting with Millman came in Brisbane three years again when he took all three sets to see off his opponent. Both players have progressed since, with Murray having bagged two Grand Slam titles and Millman having risen from 199 to 60 in the world rankings.
Betting predictions
Despite Millman`s improvement since their last meeting, he is no closer to Murray`s level than he was back in 2013, and this should be a straightforward victory for the Brit. The Aussie has already played nine sets in two rounds and has only ever beaten one top 20 player (19th-ranked Tommy Rebredo) in his career.
Having said that, Millman has won a set in two of his three previous matches against top 10 players, and Murray is prone to the odd lapse of concentration at this stage of a tournament. The outsider might just grab a set.
