Wimbledon preview and odds: Richard Gasquet vs Alberto Ramos-Vinolas
July 02, 2016 - Wimbledon, Third Round
Two of this year`s Roland Garros quarter-finalists will go head-to-head on the Wimbledon grass on Saturday as World No. 10 Richard Gasquet of France takes on 36th-ranked Spaniard Alberto Ramos-Vinolas.
Both players looking to build on recent good form
Having both reached the quarter-finals of the French Open earlier this year before taking short breaks, a place in the fourth round of Wimbledon now awaits the winner of this clash.
Richard Gasquet has been a regular in the top 10 for the last nine years and has reached three Grand Slam semi-finals including last year`s Wimbledon. He also has 13 ATP career titles to his name.
In contrast, opponent Alberto Ramos-Vinolas has never won on the tour and has not progressed beyond the quarter-final stage of a Grand Slam. However, the Spaniard has played the best tennis of his career in the last six months and looks to be in good shape going into this match, having beaten Viktor Troicki and Vasek Pospisil on his way to the third round.
Betting predictions
Ramos-Vinolas has hardly played on grass throughout his career so his form this week has come completely out of the blue. Whether he can keep that going against the seventh seed remains to be seen. However, he has beaten both Milos Raonic and Roger Federer in the last 10 months and could cause the Frenchman a few problems.
Gasquet has a 3-1 record over his opponent with his only loss coming at Indian Wells back in 2012.
