Wimbledon preview and odds: Roger Federer vs Daniel Evans
July 01, 2016 - Wimbledon, Third Round
Having already disposed on one British opponent on Wednesday, Men`s tennis legend Roger Federer will now face another as he lines up against Daniel Evans on the Centre Court on Friday.
Federer faces second British challenge
Evans booked his dream match-up by defeating 30th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov in straight sets on Thursday. The 26-year-old will feature in the third round of a Grand Slam for the second time having reached the same stage at the US Open in 2013. On that occasion he achieved perhaps the greatest win of his career when he defeated then World No. 11 Kei Nishikori in the round of 128.
The Brit has featured in five Challenger tour finals in the last 12 months and won three of them. As a result, he broke into the World top 100 for the first time and booked his automatic place on the Wimbledon roster. He has made three previous appearance at the tournament but has never made it past the first round.
Federer is still easing his way back from his recent injury problems and will once again have the added pressure of a bias crowd for this clash. However, the Swiss multiple Grand Slam winner should be able to cope with being the pantomime villain for a second time in a week.
Since his return to grass this month, Federer has featured in two events and reached the semi-final stage on both occasions.
Betting predictions
Evans may be on the rise but even a recovering Federer will be too much for the British player. Expect a straight sets win with a least a -7 handicap for the seven-time former winner.
You can back Federer -7 at 10/11 with Bet365.
