Leicester City have emerged as surprise title challengers with reigning champions Manchester City failing to keep pace with league leaders Liverpool. Next up, is a home game against relegation-threatened Everton.

The Foxes can claim second place and move to within eight points of the pace-setters with a win on Sunday. Closing that gap looks like a mammoth task but Rodgers will take one game at a time and see where his team ends up. Right now, European qualification would exceed all pre-season expectations.

The East Midlands club have won their last five in a row in the league and have not conceded in any of the last four. They have only been defeated twice all season, by Liverpool and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Everton boss Marco Silva will be fighting for survival this weekend after a run of just two wins in their last nine games has left the club just two points above the relegation zone. However, with the mid-table so congested, a win could move them to within three points of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffee`s only away win since March came last time out against Southampton. Prior to that, they had lost four in a row. On a more positive note, they did win on their last visit to the King Power Stadium but that was before Brendan Rodgers had taken over.

Overall, it looks like the Merseyside team face an uphill task if they are to beat their hosts. If they do win, they will be doing neighbours Liverpool a massive favour in their quest for their first league title in 30 years.
