Premier League preview and odds: West Bromwich Albion vs Hull City
January 02, 2016 15:00pm - The Hawthorns
Referee: M. Clattenburg
Premier League
With the top six pulling away, West Bromwich Albion will look to keep the pressure on rivals Everton in the race for seventh place when 19th-ranked Hull City pay a visit to the Hawthorns on Monday. The visitors themselves will be hoping to start the New Year on a more positive note after a dismal start to their campaign.
Baggies looking for fourth home win in five matches
Before their recent defeat 2-0 to Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion had won three home matches in a row, scoring 10 goals in the process. They will hope to revive that form against one of the league`s relegation candidates on Monday.
The Baggies started their festive campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Arsenal but followed it up with an impressive 2-1 win away to Southampton. As a result, Tony Pulis` men are sitting comfortably in eight place in the table, just a point behind Everton.
Meanwhile, Hull City come into this match having won just one of their last 17 Premier League matches. In that time, the Tigers also lost 12 and drew the other four including a 2-2 stalemate at home to Everton last time out. Despite their poor form, they remain one point above bottom-ranked Swansea City.
Away from home, Mike Phelan`s men have lost their last seven matches in a row and failed to score in the last five. Their last away goal came in the 6-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth back in October.
Team news
The home side are in the rare position of having an injury-free squad to choose from, although, Saido Berahino is still not match fit.
Meanwhile, the visitors still have extensive injury issues with Abel Hernandez (hernia), Will Keane (knee), Greg Luer (cartilage), Brian Lenihan (knee), Allan McGregor (back), Moses Odubajo (MPFL) and Alex Bruce (surgery) all out of action.
