Chelsea vs Brighton and Hove Albion - Premier League Preview and Odds
April 3, 2019 19:45pm - Stamford Bridge
Premier League
Sixth-ranked Chelsea are just three points behind third-placed Arsenal and will look to give their Champions League hopes a boost with a win over lowly Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday. The visitors themselves have plenty to play for with just five points separating them from the drop zone with eight games left to play.
It has not been an ideal debut campaign in England for Maurizio Sarri but his side are still in with a chance of snatching third place behind the runaway duo of Liverpool and Manchester City. This, despite ongoing criticism about his style of play and his difficulty in adapting it to a new league.
They come into this game on the back of a defeat to Everton and a fortunate win over Cardiff City which kept them within a point of the top four. On home soil, they are unbeaten in five but could only manage a draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out. However, they cruised to a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur prior to that which threw the race for the top places wide open.
Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion will look to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat to Southampton that kept them at risk of relegation. Prior to that, Chris Hughton`s men had won back to back games against bottom eight rivals to move themselves a step closer to safety. They remain just five points clear of 18th-ranked Cardiff City but still have a game in hand on the Welsh team.
The Seagulls` only win against a top-six side came at home to Manchester United way back in August. They also claimed home wins over top half sides Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, they have not beaten any of the top 13 away from home.

Betting odds and tips
The home side may not have been grabbing any headlines with their performances but they are still in with a good chance of landing a top-four finish. The Blues have conceded just three goals in their last nine Premier League home games so the Win to Nil looks like the choice bet for Wednesday nightÂ’s game. You can back the Home Win to Nil at a price of 10/11.
