Chile vs Germany - 2017 Confederations Cup Preview and Odds

July 02, 2017 19:00pm - Stadion Krestovskyi

Confederations Cup - Final

This final of the 2017 edition of the Confederations Cup final will be contested by the two teams that have produced the most scintillating football of the tournament. On one side, we have the young, experimental German side led by long-term Coach Joachim Low on the other, we have the more experienced Chilean unit guided by former Barcelona striker Juan Antonio Pizzi. Neither side has won this tournament before, so there is guaranteed to be a new name on the trophy come Sunday night.

While their styles may be different, both teams play with attacking intent and have players who are capable of creating chances. And while Germany arrived at the tournament fresh and full of goals, Chile have paced themselves well and are now peaking at just the right time, paving the way for a fascinating contest. However, the South Americans have struggled at times to convert their chances into goals, an issue that they will need to address if they are to come out on top in this clash.

The Germans have managed 11 goals already in this event, having scored in all four matches. Yet they have also conceded at least one goal in every game, with a total of five goals shipped so far. The Chileans will be hoping that their talented forward line can take advantage of those defensive frailties. Pizzi`s men have only scored four goals in the competition so far but have created plenty of chances and were unlucky not to have scored prior to their semi-final penalty shootout win against Portugal.

Betting odds and tips

After what has been a mixed tournament in terms of quality, this final has the potential to produce the game of the tournament so far - providing both teams stick their forward-thinking principles.

The teams played out a cagey 1-1 stalemate in the group stage of the competition but that game was played under very different circumstances where the draw suited both sides.

With so much potential for creating and scoring goals in both line-ups, the Both Teams to Score bet looks like a good pick once again. And based on their performances so far, the youthful freshness of the Germans looks set to trump the tournament hardiness of the Chileans.

You can back Germany to win and Both Teams to Score at 4/1 with Bet365.
