Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool - Audi Cup Final Preview and Odds
August 02, 2017 20:30pm - Allianz Arena, Munich
Pre-season Friendly
This year`s final of the Audi Cup will not feature hosts Bayern Munich for the very first time since the tournament was inaugurated in 2009. The hosts were beaten by English side Liverpool, who will face Spains Atletico Madrid in Tuesdays showdown.
Despite a late start to their pre-season campaign and an obvious lack of match fitness, Atletico somehow came through their opening game against Napoli. They were outplayed during much of that match but showed resilience to come from behind and sneak the win. Whether they can get away with such a display against a rampant Liverpool side remains to be seen.
Luciano Vietto and Fernando Torres got the goals that saw them through and the latter must surely be looking forward to the prospect of facing his former club. Unfortunately, Diego Godin will not be taking part after seeing red in the first game. With the Spanish season kicking off in a few weeks, Diego Simeones men need to sharpen up their act as soon as possible if they are to stay in contention with Real Madrid and Barcelona. A run of four game in the next 11 days should help with that.
Following their crushing defeat of the hosts on Tuesday night, Liverpool fans must be relishing the chance to lift the Audi Cup at their very first attempt. The 3-0 scoreline did not flatter the Reds, who probably should have scored more. They have now gone unbeaten in seven pre-season games, winning six and drawing one.
New signing Mohamed Salah got on the scoresheet once again, adding the second after Sadio Mane had bagged the opener. The only slight concern will be the fitness of Daniel Sturridge who limped off after scoring the third. The striker had not long entered the pitch as a substitute and was thought to have worked his way back to full fitness ahead of the new campaign.

Betting odds and tips
Liverpool were not expected to beat the hosts but did so with ease. As a result, they should be backed to lift the crown by beating a team still struggling for match fitness.
