Premier League preview and odds: Crystal Palace vs Southampton

December 03, 2016 15:00pm - Selhurst Park

Premier League

Out of form Crystal Palace will look to put the brakes on a six game losing streak when they play host to mid-table dwellers Southampton at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

No points since September for Palace

A run of six-straight defeats has left Crystal Palace hovering precariously above the relegation zone with just goal difference keeping them out of the bottom three. As a result, the pressure is mounting on boss Alan Pardew.

The Londoners have won just five games in the whole of 2016 and just three of their last 16 on home soil. In the six games that they have played at home this term, they have won one, drawn one and lost four. They come into this game on the back of an incredible 5-4 defeat away to Swansea City.

Meanwhile, Southampton will look to make further inroads into the Premier League`s top 10 by taking advantage of their struggling opposition.

Claude Puel`s men are just three points behind sixth-ranked Manchester United and are unbeaten in their last two matches. Last time out, they beat old boss Ronald Koeman`s side Everton 1-0 at home, and prior to that they held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw, also at home.

Team news

The home side still have plenty of injury issues with Connor Wickham (ACL), Loic Remy (calf), Steve Mandanda (knee), Jonathan Benteke (knee) and Pape Souare (leg) all out of action.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Pied is the only definite absentee for the visitors - however, Dusan Tadic, Alex McCarthy and Matt Targett are all still doubtful.

Recent form (League):

Crystal Palace: LLLLL

Southampton: WDLLD

Betting odds and tips

Crystal Palace have lost their last six matches in a row and failed to win any of their last seven. In addition, they have conceded at least once in every game they have played this season.

Meanwhile, Southampton have won just one game on the road this season (at West Ham United) but have only lost once in their last four away games.

With the Eagles lacking in confidence, this could be the perfect chance for the Saints to bag a second away win of the season.
