Premier League preview and odds: Sunderland vs Leicester City

December 03, 2016 15:00pm - Stadium of Light

Premier League

Sunderland will go in search of their third win in four matches when they host last season`s Premier League champions Leicester City at the Stadium of Light of Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland still rock bottom

Sunderland may still be propping up the Premier League table but they have at least hauled themselves to within three points of 17th-ranked Crystal Palace (albeit with inferior goal difference) thanks to two wins in their last three games.

David Moyes` men returned to losing ways last week, when they were beaten 2-0 at Anfield by a dominant Liverpool side. The Black Cats spent most of that game on the back foot and may need to be a bit more adventurous if they are going to get a result against the reigning league champions.

Meanwhile, Leicester City have returned their focus to the Premier league after securing progression to the knockout phase of the Champions League with a 2-1 win over Club Brugges 10 days ago. They followed up that result with a 2-2 draw at home to Middlesbrough but will be keen to claim all three points against the league`s bottom club.

However, with no Premier League away wins to their name this season, the prospects do not look great for the Foxes. Despite scoring on all but one of their road trips, they have managed to pick up just one point from their travels - a record equalled only by Burnley.

Team news

The home side could welcome back Jan Kirchhoff from injury, while Lynden Gooch (ankle), Paddy McNair (ACL), Lee Cattermole (hip), Jack Rodwell (hamstring) and Fabio Borini (groin) are all out of action.

Meanwhile, Kasper Schmeichel (hand) remains the only confirmed absentee for the away side.

Recent form (League):

Sunderland: LWWLL

Leicester City: DLLDW

Betting odds and tips

Sunderland have conceded at least one goal in all but one of their home matches, while Leicester City have scored in all but one of their away games. As a result, there is a high possibility that the visitors will net at least once in this game.

In addition, the visitors have conceded at least once in all of their away games. All these stats point towards a Both Teams to Score bet.
