Premier League preview and odds: West Bromwich Albion vs Watford

December 03, 2016 15:00pm - The Hawthorns

Premier League

West Bromwich Albion can stretch their unbeaten run to four games when they face eighth-ranked Watford at the Hawthorns this weekend.

Both sides within touching distance of top six

West Bromwich Albion have previously struggled to make the leap from mid-table nobodies to European contenders but another positive result this weekend could put them right in the mix for a top six finish.

The Baggies have amassed seven points from their last three games and risen swiftly up to ninth place where they trail sixth-ranked Manchester United by just three points. Tomy Pulis` men have lost just one of their last five matches on home soil (a 0-4 defeat to Manchester City) and come into this game on the back of 1-1 draw away to Hull city.

Meanwhile, Watford are currently sat just one place above their opponents in the league table and just two points behind sixth place. A win this weekend could boost them as high as sixth depending on other results.

New boss Walter Mazzarri seems to have gotten to grips with life in the Premier League and is well on course to keep the Hornets in the top flight for a third-straight season.

The Hertfordshire side have a consistent away record in the league having won two, drawn two and lost two of the six games they have played so far. Last time out, they fell 0-1 at home to Stoke City.

Team news

The home side will hand a late fitness test to Salomon Rondon who has been out with tonsilitis, while Boaz Myhill (ankle) and Saido Berahino (illness) are both likely to miss out.

Meanwhile, the visitors are waiting on the fitness of Younes Kaboul and Isaac Success, while Kenedy (knee), Craig Cathcart and Brice Dja Djedje (foot) will all miss out.

Recent form (League):

West Bromwich Albion: WLDWD

Watford: LWLWD

Betting odds and tips

Both teams have been slightly unpredictable this term but overall, they have performed above expectations so far.

With so little separating them in terms of statistics, a draw looks like the most likely outcome.
