Premier League preview and odds: Aston Villa vs Newcastle United
May 07 , 2016 15:00pm - Villa Park
Premier League
While Aston Villa`s fate has already been confirmed, Newcastle still don`t know where they will be playing their football next season. A win a Villa Park this weekend would keep their survival hopes alive.
No points since February for Villa
Aston Villa will be trying to avoid a 12th-straight Premier League defeat when then take to the field against Newcastle on Saturday. Having already been relegated to the Championship, the Villains have nothing left to play for but pride heading into their final three games.
The Midlanders showed some attacking improvement in their last two games by scoring two goals against both Southampton and Watford - however, they still came away empty-handed from both of those fixtures. On home soil, they have lost their last six in a row conceding 21 goals in the process.
Newcastle out of drop zone
A run of four games without defeat has lifted Newcastle out of the Premier League`s bottom three with just two games left to play. However, the Magpies have played one more game than their relegation rivals and will have to rely on other results going their way if they are to retain their top-flight status.
New boss Rafa Benitez has led the northeast club to two wins, three draws and three defeats in his eight games in charge. They are currently unbeaten in four and come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win at home to Crystal Palace. Away from home, they broke a run of nine straight defeats with a draw at Liverpool last time out.
Team news
Jordan Amavi remains the only injury concern for the home side.
Meanwhile, Vurnon Anita, Rob Elliott, Massadio Haidara and Tim Krul are all still out for the Geordies, while Fabricio Coloccini remains a slight doubt.
