Capital One Cup preview and odds: Everton vs Manchester City
January 6, 2016 19:45pm - Goodison Park
Capital One Cup Semi-final, First-leg
Everton and Manchester City will battle it out for a place in the Capital One Cup final on Wednesday when the teams meet in the first leg at Goodison Park.
Everton looking for first League Cup triumph
Everton have reached the League Cup final on two previous occasions but have yet to lift the trophy. Their last final appearance was way back in 1984 when they were beaten by neighbours Liverpool. If they do overcome Manchester City, they could meet Liverpool once again, providing the Reds beat Stoke in the other semi-final.
The Toffees have not been in great form, having won just one of their last six games in all competitions. In their most recent game, they held Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw at home in the Barclays Premier League.
Man City looking for repeat of 2014
Man City won this trophy for the third time in their history as part of a League and Cup double success back in 2014. That triumph was achieved under the leadership of current boss Manuel Pellegrini, who is rumoured to be leaving the club at the end of the season to make way for Pep Guardiola.
City scored 13 goals in three games to get to the semi-finals and are currently sitting in third place in the Premier League. Last week, they won their first away game in all competitions since November.
Team news
Everton have along list of absentees that includes Tom Cleverley, James McCarthy, Tyias Browning and Bryan Oviedo, but Phil Jagielka may be in line for a return.
Meanwhile, the visitors will contine without, Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy.

Betting odds and tips
Everton have not won at home in their last four matches and are facing a Manchester City side that has lost just one of their last six games. In addition, striker Sergio Aguero is fit and back in form for the away side. The Argentine international could make the difference on Wednesday. The away side can currently be backed at evens with Bet365 to win on the night.
With two top goal scorers on the field, the 4/1 available for an Aguero/Lukaku Anytime Double also looks tempting.
