Nottingham Forest vs Millwall - Championship preview and odds
August 04 , 2016 19:45pm - The City Ground
Championship
Two teams who have been marked by the bookies as relegation candidates will go head-to-head on Friday night as Nottingham Forest take on Millwall a the City Ground. Mark Warburton`s men survived by the skin of their teeth last season while Millwall booked their place in the second tier via the play-offs, despite having finished sixth in League One last season.
The home side will be hoping for a better campaign this time round after struggling defensively last term. They improved under Warburton but will need to take another step up if they are to avoid another relegation scrap. Their cause has not been helped by the summer departure of striker Britt Assombalonga, who left for Middlesbrough in a £15m deal. Veteran frontman Daryl Murphy has been drafted in and will be expected to step in where the youngster left off.
Meanwhile, Millwall will be looking forward to life back in the second tier after their surprise play-off win last season. Whether they can carry that momentum into this campaign remains to be seen but the bookies already have them down as relegation fodder. Goals could prove hard to come by for Neil Harris` men although Lee Gegory has proved to be prolific at every level he has played at and will be hoping that trend can continue.
The Lions were impressive in their recent 3-0 win over Spanish second tier side Granada in which several new arrivals, including goal scorer Jed Wallace, were given time on the pitch.

Betting odds and tips
Forest have had an impressive pre-season and come into this match on the back of a win over La Liga side Girona and a draw against Premier League club Burnley. In fact, they are unbeaten in their last five matches, having won four and drawn one. As result, they should be expected to edge this game albeit with a low goal count.
You can back Forest to win at Evens with Bet365, while Nottingham Forest/Under 2.5 Goals can be backed at a best price of 7/2.
