Premier League preview and odds: AFC Bournemouth vs Sunderland
November 05, 2016 15:00pm - Vitality Stadium
Premier League
After suffering their first defeat in four Premier League matches (away to Middlesbrough last weekend) Bournemouth will look to bounce back when they welcome bottom-of-the-pile Sunderland to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Bournemouth slip up but retain top 10 status
AFC Bournemouth are 10th in the Premier League table after 10 games, level on points with reigning champions Leicester City. This weekend, they will have a great chance to climb further up the table when they welcome the league`s worst team to the South Coast.
Overall, it has been a good start for Eddie Howe`s men, in what is only their second season in the top flight. They have been particularly strong at home, where they are unbeaten in four, having won three and drawn one since losing to Manchester United on the opening day.
In total, the Cherries have earned 83% of their points and scored 75% of their goals on home soil - stats that do not bode well for their visitors this weekend.
Sunderland come into this game in dire form having failed to win any of the 10 league games that they have played this season. The northeast club are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points adrift of safety with a total of just two points - the joint-worst record after 10 games in Premier League history.
The Black Cats have conceded at least one goal in every game that they have played and have shipped the first goal in eight of those fixtures. They come into this game on the back of a 1-4 defeat at home to Arsenal, in which they scored for the first time in three games (via a penalty).
Boss David Moyes has been scrambling for positives but there has been little to suggest that his team have got what it takes to haul themselves out of their current predicament.
Team news
Bournemouth will be hoping to welcome back Josh King from a head injury - however, Andrew Surman (hamstring), Brad Smith (foot), Lewis Cook (Ankle) and Marc Pugh are all out of action.
Meanwhile, Sunderland could welcome back Jason Denayer, Jan Kirchhoff and Lee Cattermole but will continue without the services of Fabio Borini (groin), Vito Mannone (elbow) and Seb Larsson (knee).
Recent form (League):
Bournemouth: LDWDW
Sunderland: LLLDL
Betting odds and tips
Sunderland like to keep it tight away from home and only one of their away trips has produced over 2.5 goals (the 2-1 defeat at Manchester United). However, they have conceded at least once in every game they have played.
A home win can be expected, in what should be a low scoring game.
You can split your stake across the 1-0 home win at 7/1 and the 2-0 home win at 15/2, both with Bet365.
