Premier League preview and odds: Chelsea vs Everton

November 05, 2016 17:30pm - Stamford Bridge

Premier League

Chelsea will look to maintain the pressure on the Premier League leaders this weekend when they welcome sixth-ranked Everton to Stamford Bridge. The visitors themselves will be aiming to stay in touch with the race for European places.

Chelsea title contenders once again

Chelsea appear to have recovered from their year in the wilderness when they went from league champions to mid-table also-rans almost overnight. The arrival of Antonio Conte has given the whole club a boost and normal service seems to have been resumed in West London.

The Blues are just two points adrift of the Premier League summit and come into this game on the back of four straight wins. Their latest triumph came away from home at Southampton (2-0).

Conte`s men have not conceded in any of their last four matches and have scored at least one goal in all of their home games. Eight of their games this season have produced more than 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, visitors Everton will be looking for a positive result to keep them in the race for the European places. Ronald Koeman`s men started the season brightly before stumbling through a four game winless streak. As a result, they now find themselves in sixth place in the table, four points adrift of the top four.

The Toffees have not won any of their last three away games but they do come into this game on the back of a 2-0 home win over West Ham last week. That was their first triumph in all competitions since mid-September.

Team news

The home side could welcome back Cesc Fabregas from a thigh injury. If the Spaniard returns, Chelsea will have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Meanwhile, Maarten Stekelenburg and Arouna Kone could return for the visitors, while Leighton Baines (hamstring), Muhamed Besic (knee), Matthew Pennington (hamstring) and Tyias Browning (knee) will all miss out.
