Premier League preview and odds: Tottenham Hotspur vs Watford
February 6, 2016 15:00pm - White Hart Lane
Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur will be keen to reinforce their credentials as Barclays Premier League title contenders when they face ninth-ranked new-boys Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Spurs edging closer to top
Tottenham have hardly been mentioned in the title race conversation, but their consistency throughout the season has seen them emerge as genuine contenders. While the teams above them have struggled to take the initiative in the race for glory, Spurs have crept up the rails and are now waiting to pounce should the leaders stumble.
Maurico Pochettino`s men come into this game on the back of a three-game winning streak during which they have scored 10 goals. Most recently, they cruised to a 3-0 win away to Norwich City, thanks to two goals from top scorer Harry Kane and another from fellow England international Dele Alli.
Watford still in top half of the table
As a newly-promoted side, Watford have already achieved more than many predicted. Quique Sanchez Flores has kept his team in the top half of the table for most of the season, and for a while, they even flirted with the European qualification places.
With 33 points on the board and a 12-point cushion over the drop zone, it looks like the Hertfordshire club are set to continue their Premier League adventure for at least another season.
After a recent wobble of four straight defeats, the Hornets bounced back with a win at home to Newcastle, and most recently, a goalless draw at home to Chelsea.
Team news
The home side will be without Jan Vertonghen and Clinton N`Jie, while Dele Alli and Ryan Mason both face late fitness tests.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Joel Ekstrand, while Miguel Britos Cabrera remains a doubt through illness.
