Chester Festival Tips: Gateley PLC Original Legal Thinking Handicap
March 05, 2016 14:10pm - Chester
(4yo+, 1m 2f 75y, Class 2)
Chester - Boodles May Festival
The first race of Thursday`s line-up features some strong contenders. Much has been made of the chances of Sir Michael Stoute-trained Darshini who has recent form over this trip and arrives here in good shape. Fellow four-year-old Felix De Vega impressed in a recent handicap race in Ripon on heavy ground but has also performed well on firmer surfaces and stands a good chance from a decent price.
Another that catches the eye is What About Carlo. The five-year-old may not have kicked on as expected after his impressive showings last summer but he is well-equipped to perform at this level. The Eve Johnson Houghton-trained gelding bagged an impressive third place at Epsom (handicap) last time out and should be right in the mix here.
Betting odds and tips
Felix De Vega and What about Carlo are both tempting and offer good value but the nod goes to the slightly more experienced operator.
You can back What About Carlo at 8/1 with Bet365.
