Serie A preview and odds: Sampdoria vs Sassuolo
December 06, 2015 17:00pm - Stadio Luigi Ferraris
Serie A
Vicenzo Montella will be looking for his first points as Sampdoria boss when his side plays host to sixth-ranked Sassuolo at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday.
First home game in charge for Montella
After losing his first two league matches in charge of the Ligurian team away from home, new Coach Vicenzo Montella will now get a chance to get his first points on the board in front of a home crowd.
Sampdoria come into this game on the back of a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. Prior to that they also fell away from home at Udinese. They also lost their final game under Walter Zenga and have won just one of their last nine games.
The good news for Montella is that Sampdoria have only lost once at home all season. That defeat came in their last home game against Fiorentina.
One defeat in five for the Neroverdi
While Sampdoria have been steadily slipping down the table, Saussuolo have been holding firm in the upper reaches of Serie A and are currently sitting in sixth place. However, all three of their defeats this season have come in their last four away games, and they have not won on the road since September. They come into this game on the back of an impressive 1-1 draw at title candidates Fiorentina.
Team news
Sampdoria will be without Joaquin Correa, while Sassuolo will have to cope without the suspended Domenico Berardi.
