La Liga preview and odds: Valencia vs Atletico Madrid
March 06, 2016 20:30pm - Estadio de Mestalla
La Liga
Valencia will try to make it four wins in five La Liga matches when they host second-ranked Atletico Madrid at Mestalla on Sunday evening.
Things looking up for Neville
After a torrid start to his debut appointment as a professional Coach, things are finally starting to look up for Gary Neville. A run of three wins in the last four matches has lifted his Valencia side to ninth in the table with 11 games left to play.
It may be too late to push for a European place, but Neville could will be looking to end his temporary spell on a high by finishing as high as possible.
Los Che come into this game on the back of a 2-1 win away to Malaga. That win was the fifth in six games in all competitions for Neville`s men.
Title slipping away from Atletico
With 11 games remaining, Atletico Madrid are eight points adrift of leaders Barcelona. It now seems unlikely that Diego Simeone`s men will be able to overhaul their rivals and claim the league title. Instead, they will have to concentrate on finishing above their city rivals Real Madrid.
They have lost one of their last 11 in the league and have won seven of their last nine away games. They come into this game on the back of a 3-0 win at home to Real Sociedad - prior to that, that bagged all three points with a 1-0 win at the Bernabeu.
Team news
The home side will be without Zakaria Bakkali, while Aymen Abdennour, Enzo Perez and Wilfried Zahibo are all doubtful.
Meanwhile, Stefan Savic, Yannick Ferreira Carrasco and Tiago will be missing through injury for the visitors.
