Belarus have yet to win a game in their qualifying campaign and have picked up just two points from a possible 15, leaving them a full 11 points adrift of Group A leaders France. What`s more, they remain eight points shy of the all-important second place play-off spot, all but ending their hopes of reaching Russia next summer.

Their poor run of form continued last week when they were defeated by a single goal away to Switzerland in a friendly encounter. That result was their fourth-straight defeat with their last triumph coming in a meaningless match in Greece back in November. That 1-0 victory marked their only win in their last eight games, with five defeats and two draws making up the rest of that run.

However, they did manage to hold France to a 0-0 draw in this competition during that spell. The stalemate against the group leaders emphasised their strength on home soil where they have been beaten just once in their last seven, winning two and drawing four.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria will be hoping to break their opponent`s unbeaten home run as they continue to chase down second-ranked Sweden. With just a point separating the two, this weekend`s results could change the complexion of Group A in favour of the visitors.

With Holland still flailing in the group, there is a real opportunity for Bulgaria or Sweden to capitalise and snatch second place in the group. Three points on Friday would put Petar Hubchev`s men right in contention. Last time out, they enjoyed a 2-0 home win over the Dutch, however, they have lost their last four away matches in a row.
