Top flight action returns on Sunday as Arsenal and Chelsea meet for the third time in three months to contest the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
Once considered little more than a pre-season friendly, the season curtain-raiser now has more of a Super Cup feel and is taken far more seriously by those involved.
Arsenal came out on top (2-1) when the two sides last met at Wembley in May`s FA Cup final to scupper Antonio Conte`s hopes of landing a double in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge. During the summer break, they clashed once again with Chelsea cruising to a 3-0 victory in Beijing. Overall, Arsene WengerÂ’s men had a mixed pre-season with defeats to Chelsea and Sevilla countered by wins against Bayern Munich, Benfica, Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC.
The Gunners have added former Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette to their ranks and Sead Kolasinac has also come in at left-back. With other star players such as Ozil and Sanchez set to stay at the club, the North Londoners will be hoping for a return to the top four this season.
Arsenal have contested 21 Community shield trophies, winning an impressive 14 of them including two in the last three seasons.
Despite winning the Premier League title last term, Chelsea have not rested on their laurels and have added Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata to their ranks. Nemanja Matic has already left and Diego Costa is expected to follow him out the door soon.
The Blues have not had the best preparation for this game, having lost to Bayern Munich and Inter Milan since beating Arsenal in China. With Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko both extremely doubtful, they might not be at full strength for this game and that could play into ArsenalÂ’s hands.

Arsenal have plenty of pedigree when it comes to the Community Shield and that could serve them well here. Chelsea looked a bit jaded in their last two matches and could be missing a couple of key players. As a result, the North London side look well-priced at 11/5 to take the win.
