Manchester City vs Liverpool - Premier League Preview and Odds
September 09, 2017 12:30pm - Etihad Stadium
Premier League
Referee: J. Moss
Two unbeaten sides with title ambitions will go head to head on Saturday lunchtime as fourth-ranked Manchester City take on second-ranked Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
City`s only home match of the season so far resulted in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool`s arch rivals Everton. That stalemate was sandwiched between a pair of away wins at Brighton and Hove Albion (0-2) and AFC Bournemouth (1-2). Despite their unbeaten status, Pep Guardiola`s men have been far from convincing so far this term and will be looking for some improvement here in their first match against one of last season`s top four.
The Sky Blues will have to make do without England international Raheem Sterling who was sent after receiving a second yellow card for celebrating amongst the fans after scoring the winner in the victory over Bournemouth. They have lost just one of their last 32 competitive matches on home soil, their only defeat in that spell coming against last season`s champions Chelsea back in December.
Meanwhile, Liverpool arrive in Manchester on the back of four straight wins in all competitions, including a 4-0 demolition of Arsenal last time out. Prior to that, they also put four past Hoffenheim in the Champions League qualifier, so confidence will be high in the away dressing room.
The Reds have been further boosted by the news that star player Philippe Countinho will be staying at the club for the foreseeable future despite Barcelona`s attempts to prize him away this summer.

Betting odds and tips
City have won just one of the last six meetings between the two sides and that came via a penalty shootout in the League Cup final at Wembley. In this fixture last season, the points were shared in a 1-1 draw, while the season before, the Reds ran out 4-1 winners. As a result the Liverpool/Draw Double Chance looks like a decent bet at a price of Evens.
