Champions League preview and odds: Chelsea vs PSG (1-2)
March 09, 2016 20:45pm - Stamford Bridge
Champions League
Chelsea trail by a single goal but have an away goal in the bag heading into this finely-poised Champions League second-leg tie against PSG at Stamford Bridge.
One defeat in 17 for Blues
Chelsea have lost just one game in all competitions since Guus Hiddink took over the reins from Jose Mourinho last year. That defeat came in the first leg of this Champions League Round of 16 tie against PSG.
The Blues now have the chance to take revenge on home soil, as the two teams battle it out for a place in the Quarter-finals. Hinndink`s men are unbeaten in nine on home soil, but have drawn four of their last six games. Another stalemate will be no good for them on Wednesday night.
The Londoners come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City.
League title in the bag for PSG
Paris Saint-Germain hold a 23-point lead over their nearest rivals in Ligue 1 with just nine games left to play. That advantage means that they can throw all their energy into the final stages of the Champions League.
They recently fell to their first league defeat of the season when they were beaten 2-1 at Olympique Lyonnais. However, with the league title already sewn up, that defeat must be taken in context.
They come into this game on the back of 0-0 drawn at home to Montpelier in which several players, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, were rested, as Coach Laurent Blanc looked to avoid injuries ahead of this crucial clash.
Team news
Several Chelsea players including Diego Costa, Kenedy, Pedro, John Terry, Kurt Zouma and Radamel Falcao are currently out injured and are unlikely to feature in this game.
Meanwhile, PSG will have to make do without Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti, Hervin Ongenda, Nicolas Douchez and Serge Aurier.
