Premier League preview and odds: Liverpool vs Watford
May 08 , 2016 16:00pm - Anfield
Premier League
Fresh from their European exploits, Liverpool must now turn their attentions back to the Premier League where they host a Watford side who are course for a respectable mid-table finish.
Euro boost for Reds
Liverpool may have had a disappointing Premier League campaign but this week they booked their place in final of the Europa League - their second cup final of the season under new boss Jurgen Klopp. With little over a week left to prepare for that game, the Reds boss can be expected to make a few changes for the league clash with Watford.
The Anfield club have lost just two of their last 26 home matches in all competitions and just one of their last 11 in the league. In their last league game, a second string side was well-beaten away to Swansea City (3-1) and prior to that, they let a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 home draw against Newcastle United.
Mission accomplished for Watford
After spending much of the season in the top-half of the table and easily avoiding relegation, Watford`s first season back in the top flight can be considered a success. Whether boss Quique Sanchez Flores will still be in charge next season has yet to be confirmed, but the Spanish coach has certainly done his stock no harm after achieving his objective with a hastily-assembled squad.
The Hornets have lost just one of their last four Premier League matches, having won two and drawn the other. In their last game, they came from two goals down to beat bottom-of-the-table Aston Villa 3-2. In their last eight away games in the league, they have won two and lost six - the most recent result being a 3-1 reverse at West Ham.
Team news
The home side will continue without the services of Divock Origi, Jordan Henderson, Jordan Rossiter, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez.
Meanwhile, Etienne Capoue is out of action for the visitors.
