Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League Preview and Odds
September 09, 2017 15:00pm - Goodison Park
Premier League
Two sides with four points from their first three game will go head to head on Saturday afternoon as goal-shy Everton take on title contenders Tottenham Hotspur.
It may ne early days in the Premier League but a haul of just two goals from their opening three games indicates that Everton could already be missing Romelu Lukaku. In contrast, the Belgian player`s new club, Manchester United, sit top of the table with 10 goals to their name, three of which have been scored by the former Blue.
The Toffees opened the season with a 1-0 home win over Stoke City but it was hardly an inspiring performance. They put on a better display when hanging on for a draw against 10-man Manchester City but were woeful in their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea last time out.
As a result, fans of the Merseyside club are beginning to question the wisdom of the club`s summer transfer dealing which have left them short of attacking options up front. In fact, only veteran front man Wayne Rooney has found the net in the league this term and they certainly did not recruit him to rely on his goals.
Meanwhile, Spurs look to have done slightly better in the transfer market, adding strength to their already formidable staring XI. With the arrival of Spaniard Fernando Llorente, they now have support up front while Juan Foyth, Serge Aurier and Davinson Sanchez have also added depth in key areas.
The biggest problem for the North London side this term will be adapting to their new Wembley home, so they will be hoping to compensate by maintaining their strong away form. However, only Chelsea and Liverpool took all three point from Goodison last term, so they will have their work cut out here.
Having said that, Everton have certainly lost some of their attacking threat and may struggle to penetrate the steadfast Tottenham defence. On balance, the draw looks like the most appealing bet.
