Serie A preview and odds: Sampdoria vs. Fiorentina
November 08, 2015 20:45pm - Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris
Serie A
Serie A pace-setters Fiorentina face a tricky trip to Genoa on Sunday night to take on a Sampdoria team that has yet to be beaten at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
Sampdoria unbeaten on home soil
Sampdoria preserved their unbeaten home record with a 1-1 draw against Empoli before travelling to Chievo last week to record the same score-line. Despite their home record, they have only won one of their last six Serie A games, and that came against lowly Hellas Verona. They have drawn two of their last three on home soil and must now face the league leaders from Florence in Genoa.
A win would put them back in touch with the European Qualification places while a defeat could see them slip into the bottom half of the table. As the leagues fourth top scorers, they certainly do not have any problem creating chances but they remain a little vulnerable at the back having shipped 15 goals already this season.
Viola back on top
Fiorentina regained their place at the top of the league thanks to a 4-1 home win against struggling Frosinone last time out. With Roma losing, the Viola were able to climb back to the top where they remain level on points with Inter but with a vastly superior goal record.
The victory came courtesy of first-half goals from Ante Rebić, Gonzalo Rodríguez, Khouma Babacar and Mario Suárez in what was a comfortable run-out for the home side. It was their second win on the spin after disappointing defeats to Napoli and Roma. If Paolo Sousas men are to make it three wins in a row, they will need to snap La Samps unbeaten home streak.
Team news
The home side will be without Andrea Coda, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos and Nenad Krsticic who are all injured.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be able to field a strong line-up with Marcos Alonso available again following a spell out injured.
