Manchester City vs Watford - Premier League Preview and Odds
March 08, 2019 17:30pm - Etihad Stadium
Premier League
Having wrestled back control of the title race, Manchester City now have nine games in which to get the job done. Next up is a home clash against a Watford side who kick off in eight place following a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Sunday.
They may only have a one-point advantage, but the Sky Blues know that their Premier League destiny now rests in their own hands. Win all their remaining games and they will retain the title they claimed with ease last term.
Pep Guardiola`s men have won all but one of their last 17 matches in all competitions, the only defeat coming at Newcastle. They have won their last five at home in the league, scoring 15 and conceding just two. Despite their rise back to the top, their last two league games both ended in narrow 1-0 wins.
Meanwhile, opponents Watford remain in the hunt to finish in seventh place in the table. They are level on points with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but the Midland side have a slightly better goal difference.
The Hornets have only lost two of their last seven on the road, but both those defeats came at the hands of teams in the top four, most notably the recent 5-0 hammering at Liverpool. That defeat was the only blip in a four-game run that included wins at home to Everton and Leicester City, and away to Cardiff City.
The Hertfordshire club have lost their last nine meetings against the Citizens, their last point coming way back in 2007 when City were far from the powerhouse they are today. Recent Form (League)

Betting odds and tips
City have played out back-to-back 1-0 wins as their assault on multiple fronts have taken its toll a little. John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho will all miss out thorugh injury and that could have a bearing on this clash. City lost both the previous games Fernandinho missed this season, against Crystal Palace and Leicester City and they clearly lack control in the midfield without the Brazilian. With that in mind, they might just struggle to get things going forward this weekend.
Despite this handicap, the home side should get the job done, but it might not be as easy as some are predicting. Could a third-straight 1-0 be on the cards? That outcome is worth a small stake at a big price of 11/1.
You can back City to win 1-0 at a best prices of 11/1.
