Liverpool vs Porto - Champions League Quarter-finals Preview and Odds
April 09, 2019 20:00pm - Anfield Stadium (Liverpool)
Champions League: Quarter-finals - first Leg
Liverpool will look to seal a first-leg advantage when they take on Porto in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday night. The visitors were thrashed 5-0 on aggregate when the two sides met in this competition last year and arrive in England with just 16 outfield players available.
Jurgen Klopp`s men still have their sights set on a Premier League/Champions League double and will be keen not to leave themselves with too much work to do in the second leg of this tie.
They ground out an impressive 3-1 win at Southampton on Friday night to keep their domestic title challenge on track and are unbeaten in their last 14 matches in all competitions. In the Champions League, they are unbeaten in their last 12 matches and kept clean sheets in seven of their last nine. Meanwhile, Porto will be without some key players when they step onto the Anfield turf on Tuesday.
Former Real Madrid centre-back Pepe is suspended, thanks a booking picked up in the Round-of-16 clash against Roma, while club Captain Hector Herrera suffered the same fate and will also miss out. With several players also injured, boss Sergio Conceiçäo only has 16 outfield players and three goalkeepers available.
The Portuguese side will try to put last year`s two-legged drubbing out of their minds as they look to make the semi-finals for the first time since they won the competition back in 2004. They come into this game on the back of a six-game unbeaten run which began with their extra-time victory over Roma.
They did manage to earn a 0-0 draw at Anfield last season but Liverpool already had a five-goal advantage by that point. They have not beaten the Merseyside club in any of their previous six meetings.

Betting odds and tips
With seven clean sheets in their last nine Champions League home matches, Liverpool look well priced at 11/10 in the Win to Nil market.
Mohamed Salah found the net in fine style against Southampton to finally break the 50 goal barrier for the Reds. With that monkey off his back, he can be expected to start finding the net a little more regularly from now until the end of the season. The Egyptian can be backed at Evens in the Anytime Goalscorer market.
You can back Liverpool to Win to Nil at 11/10 and Salah as Anytime Goalscorer at Evens.
