With Manchester City losing at home to their fierce rivals from across town, Leicester City can stake a claim to be Liverpool`s main competitors in the Premier League title race. A win against 17th-ranked Aston Villa would move Brendan Rodgers men to within eight points of the leaders, while Villa could rise as high as 11th with a victory.

Few predicted that Leicester would even make the top four this season and no one expected Manchester City to trail Liverpool by 14 points after 16 games. The only consistent in the top four has been Liverpool who have kicked on from last season and look on course to at least match their points tally from last term.

The Foxes will need the Reds to experience a dramatic drop in form, while also raising their own performance levels above anything thy have ever achieved if they are to win the Premier League. But under Brendan Rodgers, they have already defied the odds by emerging as the closest challengers to Klopp`s men.

The East Midlands side have won their last eight league games in a row since losing to Liverpool at Anfield in October and they are joint-top scorers with the Reds having played a game less. They have also conceded fewer goals than any other team in the division. They have won their last three away games having netted 13 times without conceding a goal.

Meanwhile, only goal difference is keeping Aston Villa out of the drop zone after a run of just one win and one draw in their last six matches. However, a win on Sunday could see them rise as high as 11th depending on other results.

On the positive side, they have only lost one of their last six at home in the league and have only lost twice at home all season. They will be hoping to continue their strong home form which has yielded wins against Everton, Brighton and Newcastle this term and saw them push Liverpool all the way in a 2-1 defeat.

Villa`s lowly position in the league belies their strong form at home which could see them give the visitors a tough time. However, Leicester have been strong on the road and have only dropped points at Stamford Bridge, Anfield and Old Trafford. As a result, any away win to nil seems like the most sensible betting option. .
