Manchester City vs Brighton - Premier League Preview and Odds
May 9, 2018 20:00 Eithad Stadium
Premier League
Record-breaking Manchester City are still on course to break the 100 point mark in the Premier League this season, and despite having drawn a blank against Huddersfield at the weekend, the champions only need two more goals to register the highest ever amount for a single Premier League campaign
That means they need to win both of their remaining league games to hit that 100 point target, although with a home game against Brighton and a trip to the relegation-threatened Southampton that should be achievable for Pep Guardiolas men.
The Citizens are still unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, and they have lost just once at home in the Premier League all season. City have taken 10 points from a possible 12 in the Premier League since losing 3-2 to Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium last month in a game which could have secured the title.
City faced Brighton on the opening day of the season and came away with a 2-0 victory, but both clubs had very different objectives this season. The Premier League title the obvious aim for City while survival was the target for Brighton, a mission that was accomplished with a win over Manchester United last Friday.
Brighton make their first ever trip to the Eithad Stadium having not faced Manchester City away since 1988 and never in the top flight. In the seven previous league meetings in Manchester, the Seagulls failed to win any, drawing two and losing five.
Brighton`s away form is a cause for concern. They have not won on the road since November, losing seven of their 11 games since then and failing to score in eight of them. In fact, they have managed a total of just 10 away goals in the league all season, and with Manchester City keeping a clean sheet in four of their last six home games in the league, the visitors will have issues adding to their tally.
The Seagulls have lost without scoring a goal to Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Leicester and Everton already this season, and they havent actually scored in any of their eight trips away to top half sides.

Betting odds and tips
Although Manchester City came up short against Huddersfield I would expect Pep to have his men refocused in an attempt to break the two landmarks they are chasing. Given Brighton`s abysmal away form and with nothing to play, expect a home win with over 2.5 goals in the game.
A Home Win with Over 2.5 Goals can be backed at a best price of 4/9.
