Premier League preview and odds: Liverpool vs Burnley

March 12, 2017 16:00 pm - Anfield

Premier League

Liverpool will look to take advantage of Burnley`s abysmal away record when the two teams go head-to-head at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Reds clinging on to top four hopes

Liverpool cannot improve their league position on Sunday but they can move to within a point of second place Tottenham Hotspur with a win over the league`s worst travellers.

Jurgen Klopp`s men have beaten Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, and drawn against Chelsea in their last five home matches, with a 2-3 defeat to Swansea City the only blemish in that time. In total, the Reds have lost just one of their last 21 league matches at Anfield and scored at least one goal in all but one of those games.

Meanwhile, Burnley come into this game without a league win in their last five matches. What`s more, they have yet to win a single game away from home, having picked up just two points on the road this term.

Despite Burnley`s travel woes, they might just grab a goal against Liverpool`s sometimes complacent defence. They have found the net at least once in each of their last six away games and netted twice against Swansea City last time out.

Team news

Liverpool will have to make do without the injured group of Daniel Sturridge (hip flexor strain), Oviemuno Ejaria (ankle sprain), Marko Grujic (hamstring strain) and Danny Ings (meniscus tear), although there is an outside chance that Jordan Henderson (foot) could return.

The one positive for the Clarets is that Tom Heaton should return in goal - however, Johann Gudmundsson (knee), Dean Marney (ACL) and Kevin Long (knee surgery) are all set to miss out. Other potential absentees include Joey Barton (tight hamstring) and Steven Defour with both struggling to recover from thigh injuries.
