Champions League preview and odds: Benfica vs Bayern Munchen
April 13, 2016 20:45pm - Estadio de Luz
Champions League - quarter-final second leg (0-1)
Bayern Munich will take a slender 1-0 lead to the Benficas Stadium of Light on Wednesday knowing that an away goal would put them in the driving seat in this game.
Benfica impressive in Munich
Benfica put in an impressive performance in Germany to restrict Bayern Munich to a one goal lead heading into the second leg of this Champions League quarter-final tie.
However, the Portuguese side still have a lot of work to do if they are to reach their first semi-final since 1990. Having failed to score an away goal, they could find themselves having to score three goals if their opponents find the net on Wednesday.
The Eagles have never beaten Bayern Munich in their three previous European clashes. They come into this game on the back a 2-1 win away at Academia that keeps them at the top of their domestic league table.
Bayern eyeing crucial away goal
Bayern Munich will be aiming to reach the semi-final stage of the Champions League for the fourth straight season when they travel to Lisbon on Wednesday night. Despite only having a one goal lead, Bayern Munich know that an away goal in Portugal would leave their opponents needing three goals to progress.
On the three previous occasions that the teams have met in Europe`s elite competition, Bayern have prevailed on go on to play in the final of the tournament. Pep Guardiola`s men have a W2 D1 L1 record away from home in this years tournament with their only defeat coming away to Arsenal back in October (2-0).
Team news
Jonas Goncalves will be suspended for the home side, who will also have to make do without the injured trio of Julio Cesar, Nuno Santos and Luisao.
Bayern also have a few injury concerns with Medhi Benatia, Arjen Robben, Holger Badstuber, Jerome Boateng all doubtful for the second leg.

Betting odds and tips
Despite having such a narrow lead, Bayern are massive favourites to progress. Therefore, the Win and Qualify markets offer little value. However, the Both Teams to Score market could be worth looking at.
Benfica have scored in all of their Champions League home ties this season and Bayern Munch have scored in all but one of their away games.
