Premier League preview and odds: Liverpool vs Chelsea
May 11 , 2016 20:00pm - Anfield
Premier League
A sixth-place finish is still a possibility for Liverpool - however, the Reds will also have one eye on next week`s Europa League final in Basel when they welcome a Chelsea side who cannot finish any higher than eighth to Anfield on Wednesday night.
All eggs in one basket for Liverpool
After taking their eye off the ball in the league, Liverpool`s hopes of playing European football next year now rest on next week`s Europa League final. Victory, in what will be their first European final since 2007, would send Liverpool directly into the group stages of next year`s Champions League competition.
As a result, Jurgen Klopp may decide to rest some of his key players in preparation for the clash with Sevilla. However, with another league game to play on Sunday, he may decide to use this game as a warm-up and rest players in the final game at West Brom instead.
Last time out, the Reds cruised to a 2-0 win at home to Watford to take their unbeaten run at home in the league to seven games.
Subtitle 2
Chelsea have won just two of their last eight Premier League games five (away to Aston Villa and Bournemouth) and can now finish no higher than eighth in the table.
With little left to play for, the Blues will be keen to out this season behind them and start preparing for the next campaign. In their last match, they gave up a 2-1 lead at half-time to fall 3-2 away to relegation-threatened Sunderland.
Team news
Divock Origi, Jordan Henderson, Jordan Rossiter, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are all still out injured for the home side.
Meanwhile, the visitors will continue without the services of Loic Remy and Kurt Zouma.
