Montenegro vs Armenia - World Cup Qualification Europe Preview and Odds
June 10, 2017 19:45pm - Stadium Pod Goricom
World Cup Qualification - Group E
Montenegro will look to get their World Cup qualifying campaign back on track when they take on Group E rivals Armenia at the Stadium Pod Goricom on Saturday. After gaining seven points from their first three games thanks to win over Kazakhstan and Denmark and a draw away to Romania, they fell to back-to-back defeats against this weekend`s opponents Armenia and group leaders Poland. As a result, they remain in second place in the group but are just a point above their fifth-ranked rivals.
Montenegro come into this game on the back of a friendly home defeat to Iran and have now recorded just won victory in their last five home matches. A defeat this weekend could see them drop to fifth in the table while a win would keep them in pole position for the play-offs.
Up front, they will be relying on the likes of Mirko Vucinic and Stevan Jovetic to maintain their average of two goal per game in this campaign.
Meanwhile, Armenia will look to make it three wins in arrow in this campaign and four in a row overall by completing the double over their opponents. They won the reverse fixture 3-2 thanks to a late injury time goal from Gevorg Ghazaryan that topped off a second half comeback in which they overhauled a 2-0 deficit.
They currently sit in fifth place in the group but could leap into second place with a win should other results also go their way. However, their overall away record is not great with just two wins from their last 13 matches on the road. They have only scored six goals in this competition so far but five of those came in the last two games so they appear to be finding their scoring touch. Including friendly matches, they have netted 10 times in their last three games.
