Novak Djokovic vs Adrian Mannarino - Wimbledon Round of 16 preview and odds
July 10, 2017 16:30am - Wimbledon
Wimbledon Championships Men`s Tennis
It has not been a great season by Novak Djokovic`s usual high standards. However, he does seem to be finding his game at just the right time here. After cruising to the title without dropping a set in the warm-up event at Eastbourne, he has brought that form forward to the biggest stage and enjoyed a relatively smooth passage into the fourth round.
Next up for the three-times former champion is an interesting clash against Adrian Mannarino. The two met in this competition last summer with the Serbian coming out on top in straight sets. However, it was by no means a walkover and Djokovic needed to win a tiebreak in the third set to see off the challenge of the Frenchman.
Djokovic has reached three finals and won two titles in 2017 (a decent record by most standards) but his performances have not been up to his usual explosive best. His last Grand Slam crown came at last year`s French Open and his last finals appearance ended in defeat to Stan Wawrinka at the US Open.
Meanwhile, Adrian Mannarino is enjoying a great run here, having matched his efforts of 2014 when he also reached the fourth round. In the last round he pulled off something of a shock defeating Gael Monfils in five sets. He warmed up for this event by reaching the final on the grass of Antalya where he beat the likes of Fernando Verdasco and Borna Coric.
Betting odds and tips
Mannarino has found some good form in recent weeks but Novak Djokovic looks to be returning to his best and should prove too much of a challenge. However, there could be some value in backing the Frenchman to take a set in this match.
