Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield Town - Premier League Preview and Odds
August 12, 2017 15:00pm - Selhurst Park
Premier League
After surviving yet another relegation scare last term, Crystal Palace will be hoping for a more comfortable time as they begin a new era under boss Frank de Boer. First up for the Eagles is a home clash against newly-promoted Huddersfield Town.
Sam Allardyce rallied his troops to lead them to safety with a seven-point cushion last term. However, they spent most of the season loitering around the drop zone and will be hoping for better this time round. For new boss Frank de Boer, this job may be seen as a chance to get his managerial career back on track after an ill-fated spell in charge of Inter Milan. The former Ajax chief lasted just three months in Italy after leading the club to a disappointing 12th place in the table after 14 games.
The Dutchman has drafted in defender Jairo Riedewald to bolster the backline, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek has joined on loan from Chelsea. However, last yearÂ’s surprise hero, Mamadou Sakho, has returned to parent club Liverpool.
They have enjoyed mixed success in pre-season with wins over Maidstone United and West Brom, and draws against Metz and Schalke. Their sole defeat came against Liverpool in the Premier League Asia Trophy.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield Town will be looking in forward to the challenge of top flight football after a seven-game pre-season campaign that included wins over Accrington Stanley, Bury, and Barnsley, draws against Stuttgart and Torino, and defeats to Sandhausen and Udinese.
They have also been busy in the transfer market bringing in striker Steve Mounie, winger Tom Ince, midfielder Aaron Mooy and defender Mathias Jorgensen (AKA Zanka).

Betting odds and tips
Huddersfield shipped 24 goals in pre-season so they might be expected to concede at least once here. However, Palace do not a have a great record against promoted sides and there is value to be had in backing the Huddersfield/Draw Double Chance at Evens.
