Premier League
Manchester United will look to put the brakes on three-game winless streak when they welcome fifth-ranked Tottenham Hotspur to the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday.
United keen to break drawing habit
Manchester United are already nine points adrift of the top four and could slip even further behind if they fail to grab all three points on Sunday. Anything other than a win could put a serious dent in their hopes of qualifying for Europe.
The Red Devils are currently residing in sixth place in the table, just one place behind their opponents. However, there are six points currently separating the two sides. A run of six draws in eight matches, including their last four in a row on home soil has left the Manchester side with a mountain to climb in the race for the top four places.
Jose Mourinho`s men are 13 points behind the leaders Chelsea but just 12 points above bottom club Swansea City. Defeat on Sunday could see them fall further into the mid-table zone.
Meanwhile, opponents Tottenham Hotspur will be looking for a win to keep themselves in the title race. The London side have slipped out of the top four and are currently seven points adrift of the pace- setters. They come into this game on the back of a 5-0 home win over bottom-of-the-pile Swansea and prior to that, they suffered their first away defeat of the campaign when they fell 2-1 at Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino`s men have drawn three of their last four away games and are without a win on the road since September (2-1 vs Middlesbrough).
Team news
The home side will continue without Luke Shaw (leg), Chris Smalling (foot) and James Wilson (ACL), while Juan Mata is a doubt after suffering from a knock.
Meanwhile, Vincent Janssen (ankle) and Erik Lamela (hip) are the only confirmed absentees for the visiting side.
