FA Cup preview and odds: Everton vs Chelsea

March 12, 2016 17:30pm - Goodison Park

FA Cup

In the first of three all-Premier League FA Cup Quarter-final ties this weekend, mid-table dwellers Everton and Chelsea will both be looking to salvage something from their disappointing seasons.

Everton looking for Cup relief

Everton have had a disappointing Premier League campaign and are currently occupying 12th place in the table. But despite their lowly position, the Toffees have only lost eight league games all season - the same number as Manchester City and one less than Chelsea.

They come into this game on the back of a 2-3 home defeat to West Ham United in the league. In the last round of the FA Cup, they faced Premier League opposition for first time in this edition of the tournament, when they cruised to a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth.

Chelsea`s last hope for silverware

After being dumped out of the Champions League on home soil by PSG in mid-week, the FA Cup represents Chelsea`s last chance of silverware this season.

The two games against PSG are the only two matches that they have lost since Guus Hiddink took charge at the end of last year. Away from home, they have lost just one of their last eight, having won five and drawn the other two.

In the last round of this competition, they thrashed title-hopefuls Manchester City 5-1 at Stamford Bridge. Prior to that, they won at MK Dons by the same score-line.

Team news

Kevin Mirallas is suspended for Everton, while Tyias Browning and Tony Hibbert are both out injured. Roberto Martinez also has Bryan Oviedo, Aaron Lennon, Gareth Barry and Tom Cleverley on the doubtful list.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without John Terry, Kurt Zouma and Radamel Falcao.
