La Liga preview and odds: Malaga vs Sporting Gijon
March 11, 2016 20:30pm - La Rosaleda
La Liga
Malaga are winless in five and will be looking to buck that trend when they welcome a Sporting Gijon side who have not won in seven to La Rosaleda in La Liga.
Malaga still clear of danger
Malaga started the season near the bottom of the table before a run of 11 games featuring just two defeats lifted them to the comfort of the top 10. However, a recent run of five games without a win has seen Malaga slip down into 12th place in La Liga.
Javi Gracia`s men are still seven points clear of the relegation zone but could do with a win to ease the growing pressure. In their last match they played out their third draw in four games when they held Deportivo La Coruna to a 3-3 stalemate in Galicia. In their last home match, Los Boquerones were beaten 2-1 by Gary Nevilles Valencia.
Another tough test for Sportings youngsters
Sporting Gijon are winless in seven games and have lost four of their last five La Liga matches. As a result, the Asturians have slipped to 19th place in the table, two points adrift of safety.
They come into this game on the back of a three-game losing streak in which they were beaten twice at home, by Espnayol (2-4) and Athletic club (0-2) and once away to Granada (0-2). They have won just one of their last 10 away games in the league, having drawn one and lost eight.
Team news
Ignacio Camacho is suspended for the home side, while Roque Santa Cruz, Arthur Boka, Carlos Kameni and Duje Cop are all injured.
The visitors will be without the suspended Ognjen Vranjes and the injured trip of Alex Menendez, Nacho Cases and Bernardo Espinosa, while Rachid Ait-Atmane remains doubtful.
