Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle Preview - Cheltenham Festival
March 11, 2020 14:50pm - Cheltenham
Distance: 2m 5f 26y
Grade: (Grade 3) (Class 1) (4yo+)
Runners: 26
Winner: £56,270
Going: Soft
A big field always makes the 2m 5f Coral Cup an interesting handicap hurdle. There have been some big priced winners in recent years, so this one always attracts punters looking for the big returns as well as each-way betting specialists.
The 2020 renewal will be as competitive as usual. There are five entries from JP McManus including Irish runner Alfa Mix who ran well to claim second behind Kilfernora in the last outing at Navan. This is a small step up in distance but that could actually suit him better and the form looks good heading into this. Also from Ireland, Eglantine Du Seuil is an interesting option who could defy her mark in this one.
They will be up against the favourite Dame de Compagnie who recorded a win here back in April 2018 before missing a season. She won here again on her comeback in December and has been well backed as a result.
