Borussia Dortmund vs Monaco - Champions League Preview and Odds
April 11, 2017 19:45pm - Signal-Iduna-Park
Referee: Daniele Orsato
Champions League - Quarter-finals, 1st leg
Borussia Dortmund and Monaco will meet in a UEFA competition for the very first time on Tuesday night with anticipation running high for what should be a mouth-watering encounter.
Both sides produced blistering performances in the last round of 16, and will be looking to replicate that form this week.
Derby defeat not ideal preparation for Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund come into this Champions League quarter-final clash on the back of a 4-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening. They found themselves 2-0 behind inside 10 minutes and despite creating plenty of chances were unable to get back into the game.
The team in yellow and black will now try to put that defeat behind them as they attempt to progress to the last four of Europes elite competition for the fourth time - their last appearance coming in 2012/13 when they eventually lost to Bayern Munich in the final. Thomas Tuchel`s men are unbeaten at home this season and will be hoping that to take a decent advantage to France for the second leg.
Meanwhile, Monaco will be attempting to qualify for the Champions League semi-finals for the fourth time in their history. While Dortmund have the exciting talent of 19-year-old Ousmane Dembele at their disposal, Monaco will be hoping that their own young hot shot, 18-year-old Kylian Mbappé, will shine on the big stage on Tuesday.
The French side could be depleted in the full-back areas and will be hoping to come through this tie unscathed ahead of the second leg in the principality.
Team news
Julian Weigl and Shinji Kagawa are expected to be ready for the home side along with Łukasz Piszczek who has returned to fitness. Marco Reus has returned to training and subject to last assessment, has a chance of making it into the squad.
Meanwhile, Monaco has plenty of injury concerns ahead of this match with Tiemoué Bakayoko (who scored the winner against Manchester City) suspended, while right-back Djibril Sidibe (appendicitis) is out and left-back Benjamin Mendy (groin) is highly doubtful.

Betting odds and tips
With both sides loving to attack, we can expect goals at both ends. But with the visitors potentially missing both their first choice full backs, the home side can be expected to prevail.
