Premier League
After back-to-back draws, Tottenham will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they face relegation candidates Newcastle at White Hart Lane in the Barclays Premier League.
Spurs still knocking top four door
Tottenham have spent most of the season loitering just outside of the top four, seemingly reluctant to gate-crash the party. However, only Leicester have picked up more points than Mauricio Pochettinos men over the last 10 games.
In their last outing, they were held to a 1-1 draw away from home by West Brom. Prior to that, they played out a 0-0 draw at home against Jose Mourinho`s faltering Chelsea side. On Thursday night, they rounded off their Europa League group stage campaign with a 4-1 win over Monaco.
Newcastle bag crucial win
Newcastle are still stuck in the bottom three but only by goal difference. The Geordies bagged a crucial win at home to Liverpool last weekend to gain ground on the all of the bottom eight teams, with the exception of Bournemouth. They are now just three points behind 14th-ranked Chelsea. The Geordies have the joint 10th best points tally over the last eight Premier League games.
The performance against Liverpool was not great but right now the points are the priority for under-pressure boss steve McClaren,
Team news
Tottenham could welcome back Moussa Dembele but Ryan Mason faces another week on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Newcastle continue to top the injury table with a total of 10 players still undergoing treatment. Notable absentees this weekend include Jamal Laschelles, Cheik Tiote, Massadio Haidara and Rolando Aarons.
