Premier League
Third-ranked Liverpool will look to close the gap on leaders Chelsea to just a single point when they face bottom-three dwellers West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. The visitors will themselves be looking to end a five-game winless streak.
Reds looking for response after Bournemouth defeat
Liverpool missed the chance to put some pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea last weekend when they twice let a two-goal lead slip in the 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth.
Since then, Jurgen Klopp`s men have enjoyed a three-day training break in Barcelona and will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Sunday.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last 14 league matches at home, a record that stretches back to January. And they have one five of the six games that they have played in front of their new main stand. In their last home game, they had to be patient against a dogged Sunderland defence but eventually found a way through to claim a 2-0 win.
Meanwhile, West Ham United will be looking for their first Premier League win since October when they enjoyed back-to-back 1-0 victories away to Crystal Palace and at home Sunderland.
The Hammers have a had a torrid time this season since vacating their home of more than 100 years (Boleyn Ground) and taking up residency in the former Olympic Stadium. As a result, they have slipped into the bottom three but can escape with a win this weekend.
The Londoners have only won one game on the road this season (at Crystal Palace) and have only drawn once (last time out at Manchester United). Consequently, the prospects do not look good as they travel to the northwest to face one of the league`s best-form teams.
Team news
Liverpool players Sadio Mane and Joel Matip are both slight doubts for this game, while Philippe Coutinho (ankle), Daniel Sturridge (calf), Adam Bogdan (ACL), Danny Ings (muscle tear), Joe Gomez (Achilles) and Sheyi Ojo (back) are all out of action.
Meanwhile, the visitors will have to make do without the injured group of James Collins (muscle), Cheik Kouyate (knock), Diafra Sakho (hamstring), Reece Oxford (ankle), Gokhan Tore (leg muscle) and Sam Byram (thigh).
Recent form (League):
Liverpool: LWDWW
West Ham United: LDLDL
Betting odds and tips
Liverpool have scored 19 and conceded just four goals at home this season. Only Manchester United have taken a point away from Anfield this term.
West Ham United have scored in all but one of their away matches but have only managed a single victory.
While Liverpool can be expected to win, the Hammers should at least get on the score sheet.
