Premier League preview and odds: Swansea City vs Leicester City

February 12 , 2017 16:00pm - Liberty Stadium

Premier League

Relegation candidates Swansea City and Leicester City will jostle for Premier League position on Sunday afternoon when the two sides go head-to-head at the Liberty Stadium. A win for either side would give them important breathing pace in the battle to avoid the drop.

Swans improving but still on the brink

Despite their recent improvement, Swansea City remain embroiled in a relegation battle. The Welsh side are just a point above the drop zone with 14 games left to play. WhatÂ’s more, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last nine matches.

However, since new boss Paul Clement arrived, the Swans have certainly looked a much better side and come into this game having won two of their last five matches including their last home game against Southampton. Last time out, they were narrowly beaten 2-1 away to Pep Guardiola`s Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Leicester City continue to buckle under the pressure, having failed to live up their status as Premier League champions in the most spectacular fashion. Claudio Ranieri`s men are now just one point above the drop zone and must now brace themselves for a serious relegation scrap.

The Foxes have lost their last four Premier League matches in a row and have failed to score in any of their last five. However, a midweek FA Cup win over Derby County may have given them a slight lift ahead of this game. Away from home, the East Midlands side have not won a league match since April last year when they were closing in on their memorable title win.

Team news

Oliver McBurnie (knock) is out for the home side, while Jefferson Montero (hamstring) remains a doubt. Also doubtful for the visitors are Islam Slimani (groin strain) and Leonardo Ulloa (thigh injury).

Betting odds and tips

This should be tense game but Leicester City proved last season that they can cope under pressure. The Foxes have conceded at least one goal in all but one of their away games, while Swansea`s own defensive issues (no clean sheets in last nine) could help the visitors to bag their first goal in five games. As a result, both teams can be expected to get on the score sheet.
